Jessica Ng wears a lot of hats—mom, gym owner, Muay Thai fighter, and community leader—and she wears them all with power and purpose. Her story made the cover of Forest Hills Living Magazine for the May issue, perfect timing for Mother’s Day as well as the opening of her new gym in Elmhurst.

Born and raised in Corona, Jessica is a first-generation Chinese-Hong Kong-American, a proud Queens native, and now a Forest Hills mom to her toddler son, Xander. “We love our walks with our toddler along the charming, tree-lined streets,” she says. “And being so close to parks, cafes, and playgrounds has been a dream.” She’s a long-time instructor at Kings Combat Forest Hills as well as a personal trainer to many busy parents and families around the neighborhood.

Before she was co-owning a martial arts gym, Jessica spent 20 years in fashion design. She studied at FIT and worked at Calvin Klein, all while training in Muay Thai on nights and weekends. A trip to Thailand in 2010 changed everything: “I trained twice a day and completely fell in love with the sport and its traditions.”

Fast forward to 2025—Jessica just opened Kings Combat Elmhurst, where she’s the only female co-owner and head Muay Thai coach. She’s also launching a kids’ summer program focused on martial arts, confidence, and discipline. “We’re building a space we all needed when we were younger,” she says.

And she’s not stopping there. Jessica recently co-founded The Fight Collective, a grassroots effort to make combat sports more accessible to women and marginalized communities. Their March launch at Church Street Boxing Gym raised funds for youth programs and featured an all-women panel of fighters and business owners.

Whether she’s teaching self-defense, running drills with kids, or simply being mom, Jessica leads with strength and heart. “I want my son to grow up seeing that his mom helped build something meaningful—for him, for our community, and for others who need it.”
