The April Issue of Forest Hills Living Magazine was among the best yet, thanks to its cover star. Yamaris Dujmic is a Queens mom on a mission—to build community, celebrate beauty, and uplift other women while raising her own family in Forest Hills. She’s the creative force behind Sweet Sol Photo, known for its heartfelt portraits of families, dancers, and local professionals, and Sol of a Woman, a growing event series that brings women together for connection, creativity, and self-care.

Yamaris lives with her husband Joe (a local attorney), their two children—Dylan, 9, and Valencia, 7—and her stepson Daniel, 19. After moving to Forest Hills, the family found more space, calmer days, and a sense of belonging in their new neighborhood. “It’s been a life-changer for all of us,” she says.

From Family Photos to Community Events

What started as a successful photography business in 2021 soon expanded. In 2023, Yamaris launched Sol of a Woman, kicking off with a floral brunch in Forest Hills. She expected a dozen guests—over 50 women showed up.

Since then, her gatherings have grown—think Galentine’s brunches, women’s wellness days, and mom meetups—all centered around joy, support, and sisterhood. Some events have drawn over 100 attendees and included dozens of local women-owned businesses and sponsors.

“I created Sol of a Woman because I wanted to meet more women like me—right here in Queens,” Yamaris explains. “We’re stronger together.”

Turning Advocacy into Action

As a mom to a child with autism, Yamaris also leads local advocacy work through her group Sol of Connection. She organizes sensory-friendly photo sessions, school visits, and educational workshops to help other families feel seen, supported, and accepted.

In April, she hosted a free pop-up photo event for Autism Awareness Month in Forest Park and often speaks at schools about inclusion, reading books and leading hands-on activities to help kids understand neurodiversity. “I want my son to grow up in a world where he belongs,” she says. “This is my ‘why.’”

Looking Ahead

Yamaris is already planning her next big summer event, centered on motherhood and wellness, in partnership with Northwell LIJ-Forest Hills. And this spring, she’s teaming up with ForestHillsMom.com to share more resources with local moms.

Through her lens, her leadership, and her love for this borough, Yamaris is building more than just a business—she’s creating a movement.
